About us
North Bristol Trust
North Bristol NHS Trust is the largest Trust in the South-West region providing medical, surgical, neonatal and maternity care for a population of almost a million people in the Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset area, employing more than 9,300 staff, with a revenue budget in excess of £500 million.
The Brunel Building has 802 beds 75% of which are single occupancy. The Women's and Children's Centre has a further 152 beds. There is a modern theatre complex over 2 floors of 29 theatres and interventional suites. NBT will shortly be opening the Elective Care Centre, an exciting new development including 4 new purpose built operating theatres in a dedicated elective facility. Individual multipurpose medirooms provide the environment for admission, recovery and discharge, and offer the facility for performing regional blocks. There is a state of the art 46 bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU) adjacent to the operating theatres, emergency department and imaging.
The Brunel Building has brought together the specialist teams formerly based at Frenchay Hospital and Southmead Hospital. These include regional adult services in Orthopaedics, Plastic Surgery and Burns, Neurosurgery, Vascular surgery, Urology and Renal services. NBT is a designated Major Trauma Centre servicing the Severn Network in the South West.
The Anaesthetic department became ACSA accredited in 2020 and is currently going through its re-accreditation process.
