Construction Site Manager who has extensive construction project experience in a heavy industrial environment, knowledge of CDM Regulations, risk assessments and excellent communication skills, is required for a well-established company based in Thetford, Norfolk.

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, 9-12 Month Fixed Term Contract

WORKING HOURS: Core Hours of 37.5 hours per week, 08:30 to 17:00 Monday to Friday, with 1-hour breaks – flexibility is required to work longer hours if necessary to oversee completion of projects, and willingness to work away from home for extended periods.

Please note: Full UK Driving Licence is essential.

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Construction Site Manager who has extensive construction project experience in a heavy industrial environment, knowledge of CDM Regulations, risk assessments and excellent communication skills.

The Construction Site Manager will assist the Chief Engineer and Project Engineers with the execution of new build plant projects and existing plant extension projects in the UK.

Working as the Construction Site Manager your focus will be on effective management of contractors that are employed to execute groundwork, civil, structural, mechanical and electrical works on company sites with the objective of safe and timely delivery of projects to agreed quality standards.

This role is mainly in connection with increase in APCr processing capacity for the company. The main project in Wretham (Thetford) is an extension to an existing operating plant. The site will remain fully operational throughout the project. This is scheduled to be completed August 2025.

DUTIES

1. Fulfilling the CDM Regulations Duty Holder Role of Principal Contractor on behalf of the company on projects within operational sites.
2. Operating existing procedures for the daily authorisation and permitting of contract works.
3. Monitoring Safety and Quality of works in execution and taking corrective actions on non-conformities.
4. Maintaining records of all activities and resources employed on works in execution.
5. Contract administration, assessment of valuation of works in progress, progress reports for management.
6. Preparation of Requests for Quotation for works of smaller scopes and values which fall outside Main Contracts.
7. Assisting Project Engineers with commissioning new works until “Take Over” by Operations.
8. Proactively promoting Safety and Health on project and operational sites by personal example and zero tolerance of unsafe acts and conditions.
9. Review of Lessons Learned with Engineering and Projects Manager/Project Engineers.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Essential Skills

1. Extensive construction project experience in heavy industrial environment.
2. Detailed knowledge of CDM Regulations and their practical application.
3. Management of Contractors.
4. Risk Assessment.
5. Reading CAD drawings with viewing tools.
6. Reading reinforced concrete drawing notation and ability to identify non-conformities in site practice.
7. Full UK Driving License.
8. Willingness to work away from home for extended periods.
9. Ability to work with limited supervision.
10. Flexible approach, comfortable with smart working using voice and video conferencing and “paperless” office making maximum use of Cloud computing.
11. Confident verbal and written communicator at all levels.
12. Numerate, ability to critically analyse information and provide meaningful reports.
13. Task Planning.
14. Beginner level Microsoft 365 applications.
15. CSCS Supervisor or Manager Card.

Desirable Skills

1. NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate.
