Job Opportunity: Planner - Prestigious Historical Site Renovation

Are you an experienced planner seeking a unique opportunity to contribute to the preservation of one of the world's most iconic historical buildings? We are working with a distinguished client on a large-scale, long-term project to restore and modernise a globally renowned residence. This landmark building, recognised for its rich heritage and cultural significance, requires extensive infrastructural updates to ensure its preservation for future generations.

About the Project:

The site in question is undergoing a crucial renovation program aimed at replacing outdated core services, including electrical, plumbing, and heating systems. This phased 10-year program will not only safeguard the building from potential hazards but also enhance its energy efficiency and public accessibility. The project will maintain the site's operational status, ensuring that important national events and public access continue uninterrupted.

Your Role:

As a Planner, you will play a pivotal role within the Programme Management Office (PMO), reporting directly to the Construction Director. Your primary responsibility will be to manage and maintain the Master Programme, ensuring all contractor and consultant schedules are accurately integrated, updated, and aligned with the project's strategic goals. You will conduct detailed risk analyses, support scenario planning, and work closely with various stakeholders to navigate the complexities of this high-profile renovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Schedule Management: Maintain a strategic overview of project interdependencies, conduct risk assessments, and advise on delivery and programming activities.
  • Programme Integrity: Review and integrate contractor and consultant progress updates into the Master Programme, ensuring quality and consistency.
  • Reporting & Analysis: Monitor project progress, prepare detailed reports, and produce key visual outputs to track and forecast project milestones.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with Project Managers, the Construction Team, and other stakeholders to manage the programme's impact on the wider project ecosystem.
  • Change Management: Assess and integrate the impact of change requests on the programme timeline and budget.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Experience in a planning role within a fast-paced construction or programme management environment, preferably on phased projects within a secure or live environment.
  • Proficiency in programming software (preferably Asta Powerproject) and strong IT skills, including MS Office, SharePoint, and Power BI.
  • Understanding of construction practices, especially within historic buildings, and familiarity with Listed Building Consent processes.
  • Strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to produce clear and accurate reports.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills, with a collaborative and flexible approach to teamwork.
  • An understanding of health and safety principles, particularly in a construction context.
