About the role

We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Construction Manager to join our Rail team as part of the Sizewell C - Rail Scheme project.

The role will be initially based in Leiston and occasional travel to London will be required.

The successful candidate will lead and manage the construction activities on the scheme, ranging from briefings, RAMS, putting people to work, coordinating all subcontract works on site, managing supervisors (internal and subcontractors).

What you'll be doing

The role will have the following accountabilities:

  • To ensure that expenditure is in line with the budget and that resources are utilised efficiently to ensure cost control;
  • To incorporate and balance both operational and commercial constraints into decision making;
  • Manage subcontractors, including monitoring of contractor attendance and progress, providing direct instruction and support as necessary, such that contractual arrangements are achieved;
  • Prepare both internal/external reports and liaise with stakeholders;
  • Develop, implement and update resource allocations plans and raise appropriate requests;
  • Lead risk/opportunity reviews, present the Risk Register and recommend/implement changes;
  • Develop a high performing track delivery team, promote a pipeline of talent and assist with internal training through supporting, guiding, motivating and empowering the team;
  • Ensure team adopt productivity and project controls techniques.

Who we're looking for

The successful candidate will have the following skills/experience:

  • Experience of working in a wide range of multidisciplinary projects and environments (site mobilisation, roadworks, traffic management, utilities interface);
  • Holds SMSTS and First Aid training;
  • PTS Sentinel;
  • CSCS card;
  • Able to demonstrate a track record of project delivery within the Rail and Civils sectors, ideally in both self delivery and package management models;
  • Experience managing subcontractors' attendance and progress and providing direct instruction/support as necessary, so that contractual arrangements are achieved;
  • Detailed knowledge of construction methodologies with the rail and civils sectors;
  • Strong communications skills, ability to lead people and operations on site;
  • Driving licence.
