Job description

Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Construction Engineer to join our team for a large tank/container project located in the North East. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of construction works, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Safety Management:
    Develop and enforce comprehensive safety protocols and practices to ensure a safe working environment.
    Conduct regular safety inspections and audits, addressing any potential hazards promptly.
  2. Quality Assurance:
    Implement stringent quality control measures to ensure that all construction activities meet the required standards and specifications.
    Coordinate with quality assurance teams to conduct regular inspections and testing.
  3. Design Coordination:
    Collaborate closely with design and engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of design specifications into construction activities.
    Review and interpret engineering drawings, plans, and specifications to provide clear guidance to construction teams.
  4. HR and Administration Liaison:
    Work with HR and administrative teams to ensure proper setup and management of industrial relations (IR) for subcontractors.
    Address any workforce-related issues promptly and effectively.
  5. Timeline Management:
    Monitor project progress, track milestones, and implement corrective actions to address any delays or deviations.
    Prepare and present regular progress reports to senior management and stakeholders.
  6. Budget Management:
    Assist the construction manager in establishing and managing the construction budget for subcontracted works.
    Monitor expenditures, control costs, and ensure that the project remains within budget.
  7. Subcontract Management:
    Oversee the performance of subcontractors, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and quality standards.
    Facilitate effective communication and coordination between subcontractors and the project team.
    Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize impact on project delivery.
    Conduct regular risk assessments and update risk management plans as necessary.

Requirements:

  1. Proven experience in construction management, particularly in large-scale infrastructure or industrial projects.
  2. Strong technical background in piling, civil works, and/or mechanical works (steel structure, piping, equipment installation, E&I).
  3. Experience with cryogenic tanks is an advantage but not mandatory.
  4. Excellent leadership and project management skills.
  5. Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  6. Proficiency in project management software and tools.
  7. Commitment to safety and quality standards.

Education:

  1. A degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
  2. Relevant certifications in project management or construction safety are a plus.
