THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking three experienced Configuration Managers to support the implementation and operation of a configuration management system across multiple engineering and technology programmes (2 in Belfast and 1 in Templecombe). These roles offer the opportunity to work closely with internal project teams and external stakeholders to ensure effective configuration control and delivery excellence.

Role Purpose:

You will provide essential configuration management support across engineering teams, ensuring accuracy, traceability, and integrity of configuration data throughout the project lifecycle. This role demands high attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Coordinate configuration management activities within assigned project(s), collaborating closely with project managers, engineering managers, and other stakeholders.
  2. Adapt and execute configuration management systems in line with contractual and internal requirements.
  3. Maintain consistency and completeness of project configuration data.
  4. Develop and implement Configuration Management Plans (CMP).
  5. Define CM requirements for subcontractors and suppliers, and ensure proper implementation.
  6. Participate in the selection of configuration items and define product and system breakdown structures.
  7. Lead and manage Configuration Control Boards (CCBs), including preparation and follow-up activities.
  8. Establish and maintain configuration baselines (FBL, ABL, PBL).
  9. Track and communicate configuration status and history.
  10. Conduct configuration verification and support functional and physical configuration audits.
  11. Contribute to project phase reviews (e.g., PDR, CDR).
  12. Provide guidance and promote best practices in configuration management across teams.
  13. Support bid phase activities by contributing to CM-related quotations and requirement analysis.

PRIMARY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: Configuration Functional Manager, Project Managers, Systems Engineering Managers.

DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Establish and maintain configuration baselines (FBL, ABL, PBL).
  2. Register, release, and archive configuration information.
  3. Organize and manage CCBs and associated activities.
  4. Maintain configuration records, history, and traceability.
  5. Create/update project CMPs and enforce CM procedures.
