Job description

Thorn Baker Industrial Recruitment have partnered with a concrete company looking for a Factory/Yard Manager to run a small satellite unit on a temporary to permanent basis.

As Factory Manager, you will manage a team of about 8 operatives, overseeing one process each day, away from the main factory. This is a hands-on role, and you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the unit and the production of high-quality concrete products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the satellite unit, ensuring high-quality concrete production
  • Lead and motivate a small team of operatives, ensuring performance and safety
  • Ensure products meet company quality standards
  • Identify and solve any operational issues quickly
  • Maintain a safe and efficient work environment
  • Track performance and suggest improvements to the production process; own initiative is key

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in managing teams, ideally in a production environment
  • Good communication and leadership skills
  • Quality-focused with a basic understanding of concrete production
  • Strong performance-driven mindset and a hands-on approach
  • Forklift experience is desirable, but not essential
  • Driving licence essential; you may be asked to travel to the company's sister site from time to time

Hours and Pay:

5:00am - 1:30pm Monday - Friday

£15 - £17 per hour, rate flexible depending on experience
