Required skills, qualifications and experience- Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or related Field Engineering experience
- Evidence of good problem-solving skills
- Familiarisation in CAD software (AutoCAD)
- Knowledge of engineering principles, materials science, and manufacturing processes

Business EnvironmentLockheed Martin UK - Strategic Systems (LMUK SS) is the single contractor providing specialist Waterfront In-Service Support to one of the Royal Navy's Submarine Programs. The company provides the Ministry of Defence (MoD) with safe, efficient and responsive support. LMUK SS, as part of the ABL Alliance with AWE and Babcock, is also responsible for the management of operations at RNAD Coulport. Looking to the future, LMUK SS supports the joint US and UK submarine design efforts.
About the RoleWe're looking for a
Concept Development Engineer based from
Faslane,
Helensburgh. This role benefits from our
9/75 working pattern giving you
every other Friday off.
- Conceptual Design: Develop innovative concepts and designs for new equipment.
- Detailed design: Assist the design engineer in the creation of engineering drawings schematics and specifications.
- Simulation and analysis: have a good working knowledge of stress and shear analysis through modelling software AutoCAD, SolidWorks et al.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross functional teams, including sub-contractors, procurement, commercial, Configuration control, ESH, Security and MOD departments.
- Documentation: Maintain control of design changes recording these on drawings and maintenance procedures.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay up to date with industry trends and technologies to drive innovation with our MOD customer.
The successful candidate must achieve the appropriate level (SC) of security clearance. More details can be found here.
