As a Computer Science Teacher, your responsibilities typically include:
- Curriculum Development: Develop and deliver a comprehensive and engaging computer science curriculum that covers essential topics such as programming, algorithms, data structures, and computer systems.
- Effective Classroom Instruction: Provide clear and effective instruction, utilizing innovative teaching methods, technology, and real-world applications to make complex computer science concepts accessible and relatable to students.
- Student Assessment: Assess student progress through a variety of evaluation methods, including quizzes, tests, practical assignments, and projects, and provide constructive feedback to promote academic growth.
- Mentorship and Guidance: Foster critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a passion for technology in students, guiding them towards their academic and personal development, and preparing them for future careers in technology and related fields.
- Classroom Management: Establish and maintain a positive and organized classroom environment that encourages active participation, collaboration, and a strong enthusiasm for computer science among students.
- Professional Development: Stay updated with the latest developments in the field of computer science and education, bringing current industry insights into the classroom and participating in continuous professional development to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
The successful candidate for Computer Science Teacher will have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (ideally PGCE, GTP, BEd, Cert Ed, BA with QTS) in Computer Science or a related field.
- Prior experience teaching Computer Science to secondary school students.
- Strong knowledge of the national curriculum and assessment methods in computing.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- DBS on Updated Service.
