Job description

At Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust we have a simple mission – Personal and Compassionate Care Every Time. Volunteers help to enhance the patient experience and complement the work of paid members of staff.

Wycombe Hospital, Cancer Care are looking for trained complimentary therapists to assist with:

Aromatherapy, Reflexology, and Massage. Must have qualifications and be insured.

This is for patients receiving treatment in the chemo suite at Stoke Mandeville & Wycombe.

You will need to show proof of insurance.

Days & Times: Negotiable with a minimum commitment of 6 months.

What skills, knowledge, and experience are helpful in this role?

  • A minimum of one year’s experience of professional practice.
  • Registration with a recognised professional body with the relevant code of practice.
  • Your own professional indemnity insurance cover of £1 million.
  • Very good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to empathise.
  • Resilience and ability to handle difficult situations.
  • Maintain a calm and sensitive manner when dealing with distressed individuals.
  • Discretion and an awareness of the importance of confidentiality.
  • Listening skills and the ability to respond appropriately.
  • Motivation and willingness to learn and complete training.
  • Good interpersonal skills and able to interact with a diverse range of people.
  • Physically fit; able to stand/walk for 3 hours.
  • Experience in a healthcare setting might be helpful.
  • Understanding and application of CARE values.

Essential requirements/commitment:

  • Volunteers must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • All volunteers will require a DBS check.
