Company Health, Safety and Wellbeing Lead
Hybrid / Home-Based (London or Utrecht) | Circa €100,000 + Car allowance and excellent benefits

Irwin and Colton have been engaged by a global investor and developer, to recruit a Company Health, Safety and Wellbeing Lead. From roads, railways, tunnels, and bridges, to hospitals, schools, and government buildings, this organisation has over 25 years of investment in sustainable infrastructure. With financial close on over 50 projects valued at more than €12 billion, this is a unique opportunity for a health and safety professional to make a real impact.

This role is primarily focused on three key areas: the internal health and safety of 140 employees, advising internal stakeholders on the health and safety implications of potential investments, and the health, safety, and wellbeing performance of current assets.

Responsibilities of the Company Health, Safety and Wellbeing Lead will include:

  • Providing leadership for health and safety, supporting the Management Board and Business Unit MDs in their safety leadership roles.
  • Engaging key internal and external stakeholders to ensure the health and safety and wellbeing performance on investment projects is monitored and improvement areas are identified and actioned.
  • Advising and supporting the origination teams and evaluating potential consortia partners and assets for health, safety, and wellbeing performance.
  • Leading the implementation of the internal health and safety management system, aligned to ISO 45001.
  • Collaborating and supporting the wider ESG team in the development and delivery of the strategy, identifying opportunities to enhance the effectiveness of the wider ESG and the health, safety, and wellbeing function internally and externally.

The successful Company Health, Safety and Wellbeing Lead will have:

  • Proven experience in a senior health, safety, and wellbeing role driving change across large organisations, ideally from an investment, 'client side' or Principal Contractor environment.
  • Degree-level qualification / NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) and hold or be working towards membership of a relevant professional body.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships at all levels with diverse stakeholders.
  • An understanding of the infrastructure investment sector and related health, safety, and wellbeing responsibilities would be ideal.

Exposure to international projects would be preferred, as would a solid understanding and qualifications across the sustainability space.
