Community Safety Officer

We are currently looking for a Community Safety Officer to join The Sovini Group.

As a Community Safety Officer, you will be expected to:

  1. Take a leading role in developing effective processes and measures to identify and address anti-social behaviour, working with colleagues throughout the organisation, Sefton Council, police and other partners.
  2. Commit to the CIH 7 Professional Standards of Conduct in your day-to-day activities.
  3. Commit to equality and diversity and to promote non-discriminatory practices in all aspects of work undertaken.
  4. Adhere with the Health and Safety at Work Act to take reasonable care of own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by their acts and omissions.

To be successful in a Community Safety Officer role, the skills you will need:

  1. Educated to Level 3 (5 GCSE grade A-C) or equivalent.
  2. Experience of managing nuisance and anti-social behaviour cases including using case management software.
  3. Extensive experience of undertaking action on complaints of anti-social behaviour, including legal and non-legal remedies.
  4. Experience of giving evidence in court.
  5. Experience of working in partnership/multi-agency environments to deliver a proactive anti-social behaviour prevention regime.
  6. Experience of co-ordinating and delivering projects, achieving results and delivering solutions to anti-social behaviour issues.
  7. Good working knowledge of housing and relevant anti-social behaviour legislation.
  8. Able to confidently and effectively communicate with other agencies and stakeholders and build positive working relationships with other agencies.
  9. Able to communicate sensitively with customers using plain English principles.
  10. Ability to translate strategies into effective plans and actions, incorporating performance monitoring & recording systems.
  11. Ability to prioritise work and adapt to changing situations whilst still meeting deadlines.
  12. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to support development of innovative solutions to anti-social behaviour issues.
  13. A thorough knowledge and understanding of legislation, best practice, recent policy and practical developments.
  14. Willingness to work outside office hours if required to investigate or monitor nuisance cases.
  15. Willingness to cover any area in which OVH/Sovini operate. Currently this includes Sefton, Liverpool, Wirral, Lancashire and Cheshire.
  16. Ofqual regulated CIH Qualification or the commitment to work towards.
  17. Excellent communication skills, able to communicate across multiple channels including Microsoft Teams, Face to Face and Email.

Experience or Knowledge of the below would be advantageous but not essential:

  1. Experience of delivering training and/or workshops to staff and customers.
  2. Previous experience working within social housing.
