Job Summary

The maternity team at CDDFT is searching for a committed, dynamic, and enthusiastic midwife to join our South East Durham community midwifery team based in Ferryhill.

We want you to be here, helping to shape our vision for an outstanding service that gives women, families, our community, and our midwives an extraordinary experience. You will join a warm and supportive team of community midwives who truly care about the whole maternity experience.

We welcome applications from band 5 Midwives who are currently due to complete their preceptorship to band 6.

We are seeking a community midwife who is enthusiastic and committed to working in collaboration with women & birthing people, families, and the multi-disciplinary team, supporting personalised choice and promoting exemplary care in line with national transformation ambitions and our trust values.

You will be supported and welcomed into your role by our team and encouraged to continue your personal and professional development as part of our trust. We are keen to develop dedicated community Midwives who can help us deliver exceptional care to the families that we support. If this sounds like you, please get in touch.

Main Duties of the Job

We are looking for a passionate, committed band 6 midwife to provide maternity care within our community midwifery team based at Ferryhill. You will be responsible for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of individualised care plans which ensure the delivery of holistic, research-based care, prioritising communication, informed consent, and relationship building. CDDFT community midwives are passionate about facilitating antenatal and postnatal continuity of care, and you will be supported as an autonomous practitioner to plan your diary around your caseload, ensuring that women and families are at the centre of everything we do.

In return, we offer a personal induction programme where you will be supported by our practice development team to continue to develop your skills and thrive in your new role. We can also offer flexible work options including condensed hours.

Our team at Ferryhill provides care to women and families across a varied urban and rural setting. Our community hospital works closely with our maternity units at the University Hospital North Durham and at Darlington Memorial.
