An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a high performing NHS Talking therapies service. Greenwich Time to Talk is recruiting a Community Engagement Lead. The key focus of this role will be to increase access to psychological interventions to residents aged 16+ in the borough of Greenwich. Attention will specifically be given to understanding and forging links within the local community and engaging groups of people who are frequently under-represented in therapy services including people from minority cultural backgrounds, people who do not speak English as a first language, older people, young people, LGBTQ+ people, veterans, people with disabilities and people from other less advantaged social backgrounds. The role will provide a route into psychological support and provide a care pathway into Steps 1-3 of the Stepped Care Model.


The successful applicant will be committed to developing and reflecting upon their understanding of diversity within the borough and interested in supporting the development of inclusive, accessible, and culturally informed resources. They will be interested in addressing barriers and stigma with regards access to talking therapies.


Main duties of the job

The post holder will take a lead in developing, coordinating, and supporting the delivery of outreach workshops and projects with a health promotion focus. They will be creative and proactive in community education and engagement. They will attend and organise networking and marketing events in a variety of settings, adapting appropriately to contextual need. The post holder will be an effective communicator, interested in the voice of potential service users, and in developing a network of relationships with Trust services and external agencies. They will be a key point of contact to workstream leads within the service and work with the supervision and support of the Clinical Leads, Equality and Diversity Lead, Business manager and Senior management team.


The successful applicant will develop and maintain a database of resources to support appropriate signposting for the Greenwich NHS Talking Therapies service. They will be able to audit and evaluate projects offered, with a view to contribute to service development. They will have the confidence to work both in person and remotely as required by the service and be flexible in attending different locations within the borough.

Qualifications and Training
Essential
  • Educated to a degree level or relevant experience working at a similar level or role

Experience
Essential
  • Understanding of the NHS Talking Therapies project and Targets
  • Experience of working in partnership with a range of community agencies

Desirable
  • Experience of community outreach
  • Experience of facilitating workshops and engaging with other relevant services

Knowledge and skills
Essential
  • A high level ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing complex technical and sensitive information
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft office packages including Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel

Desirable
  • Knowledge and experience in project management

Personal
Essential
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, enabling good working relationships with others within and external to the trust
