Description and Responsibilities

Open Sky Community Services, in collaboration with the Department of Corrections (DOC), is excited to announce a first of its kind program in the state of Massachusetts, The After Incarceration Support Program. This program will support the re-entry of returning citizens who have been recently released from the DOC and other individuals who have a history of Justice System Involvement. The Aftercare Incarceration Support Program is community-driven and fosters active community involvement and engagement. The program offers a safe, judgment-free, resource-rich environment that breaks down barriers to reintegration while providing access to essential, customized resources, and supports a mission to invest in each individual’s success. The scope of services includes outreach and engagement, food and nutrition assistance, educational and job placement services, housing assistance, as well as healthcare and addiction treatment.

The Lead Housing Specialist operates within the Housing First Principles to set a foundation for pursuing health and recovery goals with people served. The Lead Housing Specialist works in collaboration with the individual served to assist in the development of a strength-based, solution-focused individualized goal and action plan that promotes permanent housing and self-sufficiency. They will also mentor and assist in training the team of Housing Specialists and assist in the development and accomplishment of program goals and objectives.

Other Key Responsibilities:
  • Carry a small caseload and fulfill the duties of a FSP Housing Specialist.
  • Support the Team Lead as liaison and advocate with employment programs, employers, therapists, doctors, and social security staff to assist persons served as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with funders’ regulations and licensing standards.
  • Participate in on-call coverage and implement emergency procedures as needed.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent, required. Bachelor’s Degree in Social Services, preferred.
  • Minimum of two years housing and behavioral health experience, required.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record, required.
