Job description

Job Title: Community Activator

Reports to: Development Manager

Responsible for: N/A

Contract: Casual worker

Hours: Variable – confirmed in advance. Hours will include evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.

Salary: £12 - £21 per hour

Location: Somerset - various venues across the county

Main Purpose of Job

The Cricket Community Activator aims to promote and develop cricket at all levels. This position aims to engage communities, foster a love for cricket, and encourage participation in local leagues and tournaments. As a Cricket Community Activator, you will be responsible for coordinating various cricketing activities, building strong relationships with schools, clubs, and community organizations, and implementing initiatives that promote the sport.

Responsibilities

  1. Develop and implement grassroots cricket programs to engage local communities.
  2. Organise and lead cricket workshops and training sessions for various age groups.
  3. Collaborate with local schools and clubs to promote cricket and increase participation.
  4. Coordinate and manage community cricket events and tournaments.
  5. Build partnerships with local organizations to support cricket initiatives.
  6. Provide ongoing support and resources to coaches and volunteers in the community.
  7. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of programs, making adjustments as necessary.

Additional responsibilities

  1. Match Day Activation activities.
  2. Guard of honour.
  3. Deliver on the SCF school holiday coaching programme.
  4. Partner with local organisations to develop and deliver holiday activities.
  5. Support other SCF coaching programmes.
  6. Continually develop to ensure that delivery is of the highest possible standard.

Knowledge, skills, and experience required

Essential

  1. A Foundation or Level 2/Core Coach Cricket qualification.
  2. Experience of working in a school and/or club environment.
  3. Experience of working as part of a team and independently.
  4. Experience of coaching different ages and genders.
  5. Excellent people skills with the ability to build genuine relationships.
  6. Excellent organisational and planning skills.
  7. Excellent communication skills in a variety of formats (e.g. face to face, phone, and email).
  8. Clean ECB DBS vetting check or commitment to undertake prior to commencement of the role.
  9. Ability to travel independently between sites (full and valid UK driving license and access to a car).

Desirable

  1. Experience of working with volunteers and community groups.
  2. Experience of delivering competitions and festivals.
  3. Knowledge of the Chance to Shine charity and their programmes.
