About the Role

Named after the 17th hole of the Old Course, the Road Hole Restaurant is the beating heart of the hotel. With its commitment to using only the finest local ingredients, breathtaking views and exceptional service, it’s no wonder why the restaurant has earned such a prestigious 3 AA Rosettes rating.

We have an exciting job opportunity for a Commis Sommelier to join our Road Hole Restaurant team here at the Old Course Hotel. As a commis Sommelier, you will assist in curating and presenting our wine list, ensuring an exceptional service experience for all guests. You will work closely with our head sommelier and the rest of the team to provide wine recommendations and support the daily operations of the beverage team.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Assist the Sommelier in wine service, including pouring and presenting wine to our guests
  2. Develop knowledge of the wine list, vineyard regions, and pairing techniques
  3. Ensure guests receive a high level of wine and beverage service
  4. Support with setting up restaurant before and after service

Ideal Candidate

  1. Previous hospitality or restaurant experience
  2. Strong passion for wine and service
  3. Knowledge of wine terminology, wine regions, and the ability to make recommendations
  4. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain attention to detail
  5. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as a team

WSET Level 2 or equivalent

40 hours over 5 days

Remuneration

£26,382.72 + TRONC
