We are looking for an enthusiastic Commis Chef Apprentice to join our Holroyd Howe team at Stowe School. Due to the location of Stowe School, candidates must ideally have their own mode of transport or be able to travel reliably.

About the Role

As a Commis Chef Level 2 Apprentice, you will gain hands-on experience in a professional kitchen while working towards a Level 2 Commis Chef qualification. Under the guidance of experienced Holroyd Howe chefs, you will learn essential skills, including:

• Food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and presentation skills
• Working efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
• Understanding and maintaining food hygiene, safety, and allergen regulations
• Assisting in the production of high-quality meals for students, staff, and special events
• Learning how to work with fresh, seasonal ingredients to create healthy and delicious dishes
• Supporting stock control, ordering, and kitchen organisation

Required Qualifications & Training

To be eligible for the Commis Chef Level 2 Apprentice role at Holroyd Howe, Stowe School, you should have:

Essential:

• A keen interest in cooking and professional catering
• GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above preferred) - if not already achieved, support will be provided to complete these as part of the apprenticeship
• A willingness to learn and work towards a Level 2 Commis Chef Apprenticeship
• A strong work ethic, enthusiasm, and commitment to training

Desirable:

• Previous kitchen experience (not essential, but beneficial)
• A Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (if not held, training will be provided)
• Knowledge of food safety, allergens, and hygiene standards
