Job Description:

Our client is an Integrated Energy trading company based in London.

We are looking for an experienced Commercial Risk Team Lead to join our client's Commercial Risk team, focusing on supporting the Gas, LNG, Power & Emissions trading teams.

This Trading Floor-based role offers exposure to all parts of the business. The team provides a key function to the business, supporting the management and monitoring of the company’s risk exposures and valuations.

This requires a broad experienced knowledge base, from understanding market movements and trading strategies across various commodities to helping to maintain and improve ETRM applications. The role requires deep insight into commodities trading and risk management, including physical/paper exposure management, FX exposure, VaR, and P&L valuation.

The role is a key leadership position within the London Risk team and requires an individual who is happy to lead a team of analysts to achieve the business and risk team needs.

As the Commercial Risk Team Lead, you will be:

• Responsible for the Gas, Power, LNG, Emissions, and FX teams’ daily position and P&L reporting, providing management and trading commentary on key value generators and changes while supporting more junior analysts in their daily activity.
• Reviewing daily the team’s exposure and value generated.
• Validating the valuation methodologies used.
• Ensuring trading books are within Trading Delegations of Authority and that hedging is carried out correctly each day, including hedging of trading FX exposure.
• Performing or supporting team daily hedge processes as required.
• Responsible for risk input to pre-deal analysis for new business initiatives and new business setup for Low Carbon Solutions.
• Providing management information and analysis as required and proactively seeking to provide business-beneficial commercial analysis.
• Responsible for team input into financial close processes as required for designated business area.
• Responsible for setup and maintenance of controls and reporting prior to commencement of LNG, Gas & Power, Derivatives, and FX operations, and ongoing development thereafter.
• Regular and active contributor to the wider Risk Team weekly and ongoing Risk meetings and discussions.
• Providing mentorship and technical support to other analysts.

EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• Degree level education, preferably in Business/Finance/Banking/Mathematics/Statistics/Engineering or with appropriate working experience.
• Proven experience in Gas, Power, LNG, and Emissions in a risk or front office role.
• Working experience of Endur or EOS systems.
• Deep understanding of P&L attribution and valuation.
• Commercially aware with a proven ability to provide input to new business initiatives and models.
• Good communication skills, with the ability to interact with a variety of people. Analytical and detail-oriented mindset.
• Experience of managing or supporting significant business growth.
• Able to take and maintain an independent approach and challenge where appropriate.
• Experience of leading or developing junior analysts.
