Job description

Do you have a passion for Commercial procurement and contracts? Would you like to broaden that knowledge and work with a fast pace proactive support services team? If yes, then we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our Commercial Procurement team here at Oxford City Council.

About the Role

We are looking for a highly motivated, flexible, independent individual to support and help coordinate the Council’s work in this area. You will carry out a wide range of administrative and project support functions including responding to internal queries, undertaking mini competitions under a framework via the Councils procurement portal, providing training and advice. We offer hybrid working so an opportunity to work from home and the office is available and we can be flexible on hours dependent on service needs.

The Role

Provides commercial support by regular engagement with stakeholders both internally and externally, providing a service to our customers.

  1. Acts with Integrity, Honesty, Objectivity, and impartiality.
  2. Has a basic understanding of how markets work.
  3. Collates data and information to support the commercial activity under supervision.
  4. Contributes to knowledge sharing in the team.
  5. Awareness of the standards to eliminate corruption, fraud and unethical behaviour in supply chains and the actions required in the event of any alleged breach of standards.
  6. Awareness of using different communication styles with different audiences.
  7. Basic understanding of the needs of the business.
  8. Basic understanding of a sourcing strategy and how a strategy would apply to low value purchases and procurements.
  9. Awareness of the procurement regulatory framework and its linkage to the implementation of policy objectives.
  10. Basic understanding of forecasting and requirements planning.
  11. Awareness of e-sourcing tools and how they are used in managing sourcing processes.
  12. Awareness of public procurement regulations.
  13. Contributes to the creation of commercial files and audit/assurance activities.
  14. Supports a contract information system under supervision.
  15. Supports on contract management activities for simple low value contracts.
