Commercial Manager – (Managing Director Elect)

Location: North Yorkshire

Salary: c£120,000 plus performance bonus and LTIP

Axon Moore is working with a well-established, international manufacturing business specialising in ATEX certified technology solutions for hazardous environments. With over 30 years of expertise, the company is recognised globally for its innovative products that serve major industry players. The incoming Commercial Manager/Managing Director Elect will play a crucial role in shaping the company's future, overseeing strategic initiatives, and supporting the CEO's transition to a non-executive role. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the company’s commercial activities, driving product development, handling financial management, and ensuring operational excellence across various business functions.

Key Responsibilities and Competencies:
  • Strategic Leadership: Partnering with the CEO and the well-established Management Team to manage daily business operations and develop long-term strategic initiatives for business growth.
  • Capital Event: Working with the Board of Directors to crystallise shareholder value.
  • Product Development: Drive and manage new product development in response to emerging market demands, ensuring alignment with the company’s commercial strategy.
  • Financial Oversight: Oversee financial management, including cash flow, monthly reporting, and banking relationships, ensuring the company’s financial health and strategic alignment.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Negotiate and develop business relationships with senior executives of international blue-chip organisations.
  • Operational Excellence: Work closely with the Management Team to ensure operational excellence across marketing, stock control, purchasing, HR, IT infrastructure and QA, with an appreciation of demanding compliance rules.
  • Company Culture: Foster a positive company culture, promoting trust and respect at all levels, and supporting employee engagement and performance.
  • Investor Relations: Develop a strategy to attract new investment for growth.
Candidate Profile:
  • Experience: At least 10 years of industrial experience, with a background in managing comprehensive business functions such as finance, operations, and strategic planning. Demonstrable experience of securing new funding to expand operations.
  • Commercial Acumen: Highly numerate and commercially savvy, with a strong sales and negotiation background.
  • Industry Expertise: Experience in electronics, computer design, and manufacturing [ideally with some understanding of the challenges faced in achieving ATEX certification].
  • Leadership: Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead, influence, and build rapport across the organisation, demonstrating empathy and effective communication.
  • Education: Degree educated (preferred).
