The Role
As a Commercial Manager, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You will be working to support a range of contracts from design to through life support of critical systems and equipment to our customers whilst driving the business and contracts forward.

Day-to-day, you'll deliver innovative and pragmatic commercial solutions for our customers and our business. You will work collaboratively with project teams, stakeholders and our partners to achieve the best commercially position possible.


  1. Providing contract management and governance support to project teams.
  2. Undertaking negotiations and pricing activities in support of organic or new growth opportunities using pragmatic commercial solutions.
  3. Create and execute commercial strategies to achieve success.
  4. Lead a team of commercial staff across a range of Support contracts.
  5. Act as the commercial point of contact for all queries from the project team.
  6. Be a mentor and guide to other commercial staff sharing best practice, advice and recommendations to commercial scenarios.

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 1 day onsite and 4 days working from home. However, you may be required to work on site for longer periods if the project demands.


Essential Experience of the Commercial Manager
  1. Commercially driven and can identify commercial innovation with a good business awareness of customers and competitors.
  2. Understands and has experience in the creation of proposals whether as organic growth or for new opportunities.
  3. Ability to thrive under pressure and meet deadlines critical to our customer's mission.
  4. Able to demonstrate and role model the right behaviours to deliver pragmatic and innovative solutions.
  5. Experience of project management and prioritising deliverables to independently manage concurrent and multiple business change projects and day to day operations simultaneously.
  6. A balance of public and commercial sector experience in a customer-facing and supplier-facing role.

Qualifications for the Commercial Manager
  1. Ideally be degree qualified (or equivalent) in Law or Accountancy but not essential.
  2. Functional qualifications achieved, or would be willing to work towards, may include International Association for Contract and Commercial Management (IACCM now WCC) or Post Graduate Certificate in Commercial Management (PGCCM).

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. However, the successful candidate can start on Standard (BPSS) security clearance but will need to achieve Security Check (SC) once in post.
