Job Description

Aligned with Fastmarkets' vision of being a customer-centric organisation, the Commercial Consultant plays a key role in translating our industry-leading services into tailored solutions that meet the strategic needs of our clients.

This role combines deep market expertise with a consultative, diagnostic sales approach to understand customer workflows and position Fastmarkets' world-class pricing data, market insights, proprietary datasets, and forecasts effectively.

As part of the role, you will engage with customers as the Agriculture & Renewable Fuels sector expert and provide valuable insights to key stakeholders in the customer organizations.

The ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in how Fastmarkets' offerings drive value for client decision-making and business operations, leveraging our extensive team of market analysts and price reporters.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Support growth of Fastmarkets' target sector business - Agriculture, renewable fuels, renewable fuel feedstocks related customer organization by being the commercial sector expert.
  2. Present in-depth product and commodity market insights (positioned as Fastmarkets Point of Views (PoVs) with authority, demonstrating how Fastmarkets' solutions meet client needs.
  3. Drive significant revenue growth by identifying opportunities to expand business through:
    1. Win key existing customers by providing expanded value through engagement and through embedding our products and services better.
    2. Support growth through new business - by supporting targeting and conversion of new customers in target markets.
  4. Collaborate with Account Managers and Commercial teams to drive revenue growth and maintain accurate sales forecasts.
  5. Achieve significant double-digit growth from cross-commodity sales to Fastmarkets' largest customers and customers with high-growth potential.
  6. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, networking actively across the industry to develop valuable connections.
  7. Support robust and growing sales pipeline, ensuring accurate performance forecasts and meeting growth targets, in collaboration with Account Managers.
  8. Work closely with cross-functional teams to refine strategies, improve product offerings, and provide enhanced customer support in the region.
  9. Conduct and document high-impact pre- and post-sales activities, ensuring comprehensive client engagement and contribute to quarterly and annual sales and financial planning cycles.
  10. Travel as required for client meetings, conferences, and regional seminars (minimum 30%).

Qualifications

  1. At least 5-10 years of experience in the target commodities markets - agriculture or renewable energy fuels and feedstocks, with a proven track record of success.
  2. Alternatively, experience in working with large established agriculture/food conglomerates or large established oil & gas companies in roles that are focused on strategic procurement of agriculture commodities or renewable fuel commodities.
  3. Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience.
  4. Strong understanding of target market customer workflows and the application of pricing data within commodities markets.
  5. Excellent communication skills, with proven success in both one-on-one and large group presentations.
  6. Strong collaboration and influencing skills; a true team player with the ability to work effectively across departments.
  7. Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  8. Good to have: Understanding of sales processes for market/data intelligence products, Proficiency in CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) and other relevant sales technologies.
