Commercial Team - Trainee Procurement Co-ordinator

Working Hours: 8.30am-5.30pm

Minimum Requirements: GCSE X4, A LEVELS preferred

Training: 1 day college/online course

This role is within the construction industry, supporting your Level 3 Procurement Apprenticeship (CIPS), with the opportunity to progress to Level 4 and 6.

The Trainee POC will closely follow the guidance of senior colleagues and the Commercial Director. The full job description below is a guide to what is required. Once the trainee qualifies to CIPS level 3, more duties will be assigned along with the skill set competency levels reassigned to match the job requirements. Levels 4-6 will then be mapped out for the training period.

Responsibilities:

1. Managing the buying gains document as issued by the QS & reporting costs to the QS for materials and resources.
2. Sourcing and negotiating the purchase of materials, plant, and specialist services within budget.
3. Assisting in improving margins with new suppliers.
4. Managing change through the project duration with suppliers and participating in reviews with the PMs and DMs.
5. Updating the delivery of materials.
6. Assisting with VE exercises with the PM, QS, and OPMs to reduce costs while remaining spec compliant.
7. Reviewing the buying gains sheet with the QS and understanding the procurement requirements for the project, working within the budgets set for each element.
8. Regularly reviewing project costs against the project buying sheet and resolving problem invoices with suppliers to ensure timely payments.
