This role is within the construction industry, supporting your Level 3 Procurement Apprenticeship (CIPS), with opportunities to progress to Level 4 and 6.

The Trainee Procurement Coordinator (POC) will closely follow the guidance of senior colleagues and the Commercial Director. The full job description below serves as a guide to the responsibilities required. Once the trainee qualifies to CIPS Level 3, additional duties will be assigned along with the necessary skill set competencies to match job requirements. Levels 4-6 will then be mapped out for the training period.

Responsibilities:

1. Manage the buying gains document as issued by the QS and report costs to the QS for materials and resources.
2. Sourcing, negotiating purchasing materials and plant, and specialist services within budget.
3. Assist in improving margins with new suppliers.
4. Support change throughout the project duration with suppliers, participating in reviews with PMs and DMs.
5. Manage and update the delivery of materials.
6. Assist with VE exercises with the PM, QS, and OPMs to reduce costs while remaining spec compliant.
7. Review the buying gains sheet with the QS and understand the procurement requirements for the project, working within the budgets set for each element.
8. Regularly review project costs against the project buying sheet and resolve any problem invoices with suppliers to ensure accounts can process payments within agreed time scales.
