The Role
At SBC, College Tutors are at the heart of what we do, delivering high-quality, inclusive lessons in their specific subject areas to students passionate about learning. Thriving in a vibrant multicultural environment, they inspire students to grow in confidence and equip them with essential 21st-century communication skills. Beyond their own teaching, tutors also support the delivery of industry experience sessions and collaborate with guest speakers who provide insights into their fields, enriching students' understanding and sparking curiosity. By fostering a culture of respect and understanding, our tutors nurture a lifelong love for their subjects through engaging and dynamic lessons. Their dedication ensures every student’s time with SBC is truly transformative and unforgettable.
The Subject
Our SBC Faculty of Medicine course is a two-week programme designed to inspire and empower the next generation of doctors. The course provides students with an engaging introduction to the world of medicine, combining theoretical knowledge with practical application. As a tutor, your role will be to guide students through core topics such as human anatomy, medical ethics, and clinical techniques, using an array of interactive lectures, discussion-led seminars, and more hands-on workshops, as well as facilitate two “Time To Shine” projects designed to encourage students to explore further elements of the subject. By the end of this interactive, student-centred course, students will not only have gained essential subject knowledge through your lessons and workshops from industry professionals, but have also developed core 21st century skills such as public speaking, critical thinking and problem-solving. The course will also culminate in a “Time to Shine” ceremony, in which students showcase the knowledge and skills gained from a week-long project. Your expertise, enthusiasm, and ability to make the subject accessible and enjoyable will play a key role in helping these students gain an insight into the world of medicine and develop a lasting passion in the subject.
