Main duties of the job

Assessment of clinical presentation, to develop an individualised formulation and create a bespoke treatment plan that meets the needs of the individual.

You will work with adults, young people, and families, many of whom will have experienced significant trauma with an ongoing impact on daily living.

Sessions are held in our Nottingham clinic, with access to our Derby clinic, and some clients may opt for remote sessions.

You will deliver high quality psychotherapy, ensuring that this meets the needs of the clients and is flexible and responsive.

You will be a key member of a clinical team working together to grow a new and developing business whilst maintaining quality work.

There will be opportunities to deliver supervision and training, as well as engage with external stakeholders.

About us

The Condition Management Company is led by clinicians with over 60 years in combined clinical experience and service design, across Nottingham, Derby, and further afield. Our team have developed, operated, and evaluated large scale services for the NHS and Department of Work and Pensions. We have also been involved in specialist service development, produced training programmes, and provided performance consultation to other clinical services. Now we have taken the opportunity to focus on developing a local, personalised service with clients at the heart of the service.

Our work is made up of a variety of contracts. This will predominantly be providing interventions for people on specialist service contracts such as our Family Psychological Support Service where individuals and families are experiencing significant birth trauma and loss. Work will also include seeing individual private patients for assessment and treatment, Occupational Health input for local organisations including first responders, working with children and young people with psychological presentations in and out of school settings, providing treatment support for people with autistic spectrum disorders and ADHD, and supporting patients on NHS Waiting Lists.

Job Summary

The post holder will be an Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist. You will deliver evidence-based CBT to meet your client's specific needs and to work towards their goals. This will be within the parameters of either the contract under which they are referred, or the request of the client. You will complete full clinical assessments, produce suitable reports detailing clients' symptoms, the functional impact of their difficulties, and their goals. You will derive formulation-informed and idiosyncratic treatment plans in collaboration with clients and be able to produce high-quality reports to reflect this work. You will engage closely with the internal team and other multi-disciplinary professionals. You will also provide education, teaching, and training in relation to CBT and around mental health challenges to businesses and external agencies. You will also be involved in clinical supervision, on an individual and group basis.

Key Responsibilities

1. Provide high quality specialist Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to individuals, couples, and children and young people as appropriate.
2. Assess individual difficulties, goals, and needs.
3. Develop idiosyncratic formulations and linked appropriate treatment plans.
4. Tailor therapy to fit within the expectations of the individual funding therapy, or the contract within which they are being seen.
5. Manage an allocated clinical caseload in collaboration with the Line Manager.
6. Deliver evidence-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for clients.
7. Provide medication Review and symptom monitoring where appropriate.
8. Conduct Mental Health Assessments and Risk Assessments for users and formulate and implement Risk Management plans.
9. Provide information and education to users about choice and access of psychological therapies available within CMC to enable them to make informed decisions as to the most appropriate services to be accessed.
10. Electronically record data regarding individual service user contact activity, Diary Events, and Service Activity using CMC Patient Management Systems.
11. Maintain up to date accurate electronic clinical records relating to individual service users, in accordance with CMC policies and procedures.
12. Implement outcomes monitoring systems adopted by CMC to demonstrate clinical progress and client satisfaction.
13. Collate and electronically record assessment and treatment outcomes and patient satisfaction data in accordance with CMC individual contract requirements.
14. Actively participate in regular liaison and consultation with CMC Clinical Team, and other Specialist Teams as required.
15. Proactively develop robust professional relationships with external stakeholders and contract contacts.
16. Develop and maintain good professional relationships with referrers and other professionals involved with clients.
17. Exercise personal responsibility for the systematic clinical governance of professional practice in your own practice.
18. Receive regular Clinical Supervision from an Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist.
19. Be committed to developing and maintaining CPD in relation to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
20. Fulfil the BABCP code of conduct and follow BABCP ethical guidelines in your professional work.
21. Receive and act upon regular Case Management Supervision from the Line Manager.
22. Be aware of and comply with all CMC policies and procedures.

Clinical Governance

The post holder will be expected to:

1. Maintain and develop clinical knowledge and clinical expertise.
2. Actively participate in regular clinical and managerial supervision.
3. Maintain high quality and accurate electronic records of clinical work so as to allow the effective monitoring, review, audit, and evaluation of the service provided.
4. Collate and electronically record assessment and outcome measures and patient satisfaction data for service audit and contractual requirements.
5. Produce reports for clients, referrers, and relevant health professionals of clinical assessments and treatment plans.
6. Participate in the effective monitoring, review, and evaluation of the service provided.
7. Participate in audit and research as required.

Experience

• Experience of treating a wide range of psychological disorders using CBT
• Experience of working autonomously
• Experience of conducting mental health assessments and risk assessments
• Experience of collating and recording clinical outcomes
• Engagement in an ongoing CPD CBT programme (including recent attendance at CBT conferences or training)
• Evidence of receiving regular & recent post registration Clinical Supervision in CBT
• Clinical experience of working within a Multidisciplinary Team
• Experience of treating complex conditions and or Axis 2 disorders
• A basic understanding of other psychological treatment modalities
• Experience in working with children and young people
• Experience in working with neurodivergent individuals
