Job description

Role: Coded TIG/MMA Welding position
Location: Thetford, Norfolk - working away will be required
Working hours: Monday to Friday - full time - call outs will be required
Rate of pay: £17/18 per hour + benefits
Capacity of role: Permanent position

Our client is a leading manufacturer who is looking to add to their site fitting team. Candidates will need to be coded in TIG (ideally) and MMA (desirable) practices.

Main duties will include:
  1. Oversee the selection and procurement of materials and equipment required for TIG welding
  2. Measure and align work pieces using straightedges, clamps, and calipers
  3. Ensure compliance with established health/safety policies and regulations
  4. Carry out grinding and thermal cutting operations to obtain various textures and sizes for metal parts
  5. Oversee the set-up of TIG welding equipment
  6. Operate power and hand tools such as arc welders, buffing machine, and scrapers
  7. Maintain good working knowledge of the welding characteristics of metals such as stainless steel and aluminum
  8. Read and interpret welding blueprints, schematics, and codes
  9. Carry out preventative maintenance and repair of piping systems and metal structures
  10. Ensure welding operations meet set specifications and construction requirements
  11. Oversee the training and mentoring of new and trainee TIG welders
Candidate attributes:
  • Ideally proven codings in TIG/MMA welding
  • Familiarity with welding working on Stainless steel
  • Proficient in using hand tools and power tools relevant to the welding trade
  • Mathematical skills for accurate measurements and calculations
  • Strong mechanical knowledge, with the ability to troubleshoot issues that may arise during the welding process
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work
  • Ability to work onsite and away from home as and when required
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
