Job description

We are looking for a Code Welder AA to join our team! This position will weld steel plates of all kinds by using electric arc welding and/or squirt welding machines. The ideal candidate will be able to weld in all positions, read blueprints, and have experience with various measuring tools.

This is a full-time, union-hourly position located in Lancaster, PA. Hours are Monday-Friday, 6 AM - 2:30 PM; Saturdays as needed (maximum of two required 6 AM – 12 PM).

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Welds in all positions
  • Performs all necessary welding on the inside of all boilers as required
  • Fits all connections, making sure they are plumb and level and welds in place as required
  • Places and welds saddles or skids onto boiler shell
  • Welds seams (in all positions on high and low pressure boilers)
  • Uses oxyacetylene burning equipment to torch out openings in boiler for proper alignment and fit couplings and connections
  • Interprets welding symbols as used on blueprints
  • Uses plumb lines and leveling gauges
  • Uses steel tape or rulers to an accuracy of 1/16”
  • Removes slag from weld with slag hammer or wire brush
  • Stamps all welds with his/her personal certification stamp
  • Performs related work as directed commensurate with this or lesser rates labor grade

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • MUST be able to pass ASME 2G MIG, 2G Stick, 3G stock without backing, and 4G Overhead weld tests
  • Ability to read blueprints and/or diagrams
  • Experience with measuring tools
