Job description

Pertemps Wolverhampton are currently recruiting on behalf of our long-standing engineering client for an experienced and driven CNC Programmer/Setter (Milling) to join their precision machining team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a growing company that is currently making significant investment into skills development and modernising operations across the facility. You'll be joining a forward-thinking team committed to quality, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities as a CNC Programmer:
  1. Programme, set and operate CNC milling machines to produce high-precision components to customer specifications.
  2. Write and adjust CNC programmes using FANUC controls.
  3. Plan machine setups to maximise efficiency and accuracy.
  4. Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, ensuring components are manufactured to tight tolerances.
  5. Carry out in-process inspection using micrometres, verniers, gauges, and other measuring equipment to ensure quality standards are met.
  6. Work independently to ensure Right First Time (RFT) output and maintain production targets.
  7. Support and maintain continuous improvement activities through an understanding of OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) and 5S workplace organisation.
  8. Identify and resolve machine or tooling issues to minimise downtime.
  9. Work with a variety of materials including aluminium, stainless steel, and exotic alloys.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
  1. Proven experience in CNC milling programming, setting, and operating.
  2. Familiarity with FANUC control systems.
  3. The ability to work from detailed engineering drawings with minimal supervision.
  4. Strong understanding of machining practices, tooling, and production efficiency.
  5. Knowledge of quality standards and inspection techniques.
  6. An apprenticeship or formal engineering qualification would be beneficial, but is not essential for the right candidate with hands-on experience.
