Job description

M4 Recruitment are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CNC Programmer to join our clients team based on the outskirts of Cirencester.

The ideal candidate will have previous work experience operating Manual Lathes and Bedmills, in addition to CNC machinery.

As a CNC Machinist, you will operate and maintain CNC and manual machines to produce precision parts and components according to customer specifications and engineering drawings. You will be expected to ensure the highest standards of quality, efficiency, and safety in all machining operations.

Working Hours: Monday to Thursday (08:00 - 17:00), Friday (08:00 - 14:00)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate CNC machines (mills, lathes, etc.) and Manual Lathes and Bedmills according to blueprints, technical drawings, and job orders.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and blueprints to select the appropriate tools, materials, and machine settings.
  • Program and edit CNC machine codes using established software.
  • Conduct routine maintenance on CNC and manual machines to ensure optimal performance.
  • Monitor machine performance, detect malfunctions, and make necessary adjustments or repairs.
  • Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments to ensure they meet required specifications.
  • Maintain accurate records of production runs, machine performance, and quality checks.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding job status, production goals, and quality control.
  • Work to meet production deadlines while maintaining a high level of precision and quality.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a CNC Machinist or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous work experience with Manual Lathes and Bedmills is required.
  • Strong knowledge of CNC machine operation, programming, and maintenance.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Experience with precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, etc.).
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues with machines.
  • Knowledge of different materials, cutting tools, and their application.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions.
