Main Purpose of the role:
The CNC Milling Programmer is responsible for on-line and off-line programming of CNC milling machines up to 5-axis, to produce components from models and drawings.

Key Responsibilities:

1. On and off-line programming of a range of CNC milling machines utilising OneCNC or Alphacam software.
2. Perform machine setup and tooling selection to ensure efficient production runs.
3. Operate multiple CNC machines, including loading materials, setting tools, and running production jobs.
4. Conduct toolpath simulations and make necessary adjustments to optimise cycle times and ensure accuracy.
5. Alter machine datums as required.
6. Report issues encountered during setup and provide feedback on program efficiency.
7. Assist in identifying any requirements for tooling or equipment that need replacing.
8. Ensure all parts are inspected correctly, including first-off inspections.
9. Ensure all completed works orders are signed off correctly.
10. Provide feedback on the progress of projects, orders, and any escalations.
11. Monitor machine performance and adjust as needed to maintain productivity and quality.
12. Troubleshoot machining issues to minimise downtime and improve overall efficiency.
13. Assist in maintaining machine maintenance plans and highlighting any issues.
14. Report any issues with drawings or routes and ensure corrections are made.
15. Manage and provide ongoing development of standard operating procedures relating to manufacturing processes.
16. Adhere to the company's quality and H&S management system and supporting processes (ISO9001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018). Ensure all staff use and wear appropriate PPE.
17. Support a best practice and continuous improvement culture across the company, identifying opportunities where they arise, and taking ownership of driving initiatives forward.
18. Support internal and external audits as required, following company audit policies, processes, and schedules. Identify and report non-conformances (NCRs), aiding with NCR root cause analysis. Ensure any NCRs identified are rectified swiftly and within agreed dates.
19. Keep all work areas clean, tidy, and safe at all times. Ensure all fixtures and equipment are stored correctly and are easy to locate.
20. Undertake any other relevant activities as required by the business.

Person Specification:

1. 5 years' experience working in precision engineering or similar environment.
2. Experience in Programming CNC machines.
3. Proficient in on and off-line programming using OneCNC or Alphacam software for CNC milling machines up to 5-axis. Familiarity with Siemens CNC controls (XYZ) preferred.
4. Strong knowledge of CNC Milling.
5. The ability to read and interpret technical engineering drawings.
6. Good understanding of company products alongside how they are manufactured.
7. The ability to work within a team and alone.
