Machinist - CNC & Manual | £34,000 | Bury St. Edmunds

Hours: Monday to Thursday, 06:00 - 16:00 (4-day week!)
Salary: Up to £34,000 DOE
Location: Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk

We are working with a well-established and highly respected manufacturer based in Bury St. Edmunds who are looking to bring an experienced Machinist into their growing team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on precision work, operating both CNC and manual machinery, and values a positive working environment with long weekends every week.

The Role

As a Machinist, you'll be responsible for producing high-precision components using CNC Mills, Lathes, and manual machines. The role is varied, technical, and key to maintaining the company's reputation for quality and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Set up and operate CNC and manual machines to produce components to tight tolerances
  2. Work from technical engineering drawings
  3. Perform first-off and in-process inspections
  4. Troubleshoot and resolve basic machining issues
  5. Maintain a safe, clean, and efficient work environment
  6. Support continuous improvement through 5S and TPM practices

The Ideal Candidate
  1. 5+ years' experience in a similar machining role
  2. Proficient in CNC (mills & lathes) and manual machinery
  3. Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings
  4. Recognised machining qualification or time-served apprenticeship
  5. Quality-focused with a strong safety mindset
  6. Confident working independently to production deadlines
