Job description

Hours: 39 hours per week + available overtime
Shift Pattern:

Mon-Thurs: 15:00-00:00

Fri: 12:00-17:00

About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join our high-tech machine shop. You will be responsible for setting up, proving out, and operating Fanuc-controlled CNC milling machinery (Mazak), producing parts for the aircraft interiors industry. This is a key role in ensuring smooth production runs and maintaining high-quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Set up a range of Fanuc-controlled CNC milling machines to produce both simple and complex parts for low-batch, high-mix production.
  2. Edit and create basic CNC programs using G&M code.
  3. Operate machinery to meet production targets and quality standards.
  4. Conduct self-inspections of repeat work using the appropriate tools and techniques.
  5. Perform regular Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) on the equipment.
  6. Report any production issues or defects to the Team Lead and engineering team.
  7. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency.
  8. Track operational performance and provide feedback.
  9. Collaborate effectively with peers and support teams.
  10. Adhere to company quality management standards.
  11. Follow EH&S guidelines and ensure compliance.
  12. Maintain a clean and organized workspace, following housekeeping and FOD rules.

Required Skills and Experience:
  1. City and Guilds CNC/NC qualifications or at least 5 years of relevant CNC machining experience in a precision engineering environment.
  2. Extensive experience with CNC milling machinery.
  3. Strong knowledge of Fanuc control systems.
  4. Proficient with machine tooling and inspection equipment.
  5. Attention to detail with the ability to produce components to a high standard.
  6. Strong understanding of complex engineering drawings and data.
  7. Good awareness of EH&S practices in a manufacturing environment.
  8. Ability to work independently.
  9. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Skills:
  1. Knowledge of metallurgy.
  2. Familiarity with Microsoft Office software.
  3. Experience with lean manufacturing techniques and process improvement projects.
