Clinical Trust Fellow (ST3+) in Paediatrics

Contract: 6 Months Fixed Term

Applicants must have a minimum of 3 years experience in General Paediatrics and Full GMC Registration.

Job responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• To provide acute general paediatric cover to in-patient and out-patient services (without need for neonatal service cover).
• To provide Paediatric Assessment Unit care as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• By arrangement, to cover colleagues during periods of annual and study leave.
• Administrative duties include those associated with the care of the patients and the running of the clinical department.
• Help in the supervision and teaching of nursing and junior medical staff.
• Participate actively in quality improvement activity/clinical audit and implement its results.
• The post-holder will undertake, exceptionally, to perform additional duties in emergency and unforeseen circumstances as are essential for continuity of patient care.
• Abiding by the clinical and corporate governance policies of the Trust.

Person Specification

Qualifications

• Medical Degree (MBBS or Equivalent)
• Full GMC Registration with Licence to Practise
• MRCPCH
• BLS Certification
• APLS/EPALS Certification - can be obtained within 2 months of being in post.

Experience

• Experience of 3 years in General Paediatrics.
• Experience of working in a hospital-based setting post MBBS for a minimum of 5 years.
• Awareness of NHS processes.
• Awareness of current Governance and Management processes; in particular understanding of safety reporting, investigations, quality improvement methodology and implementation.
• Awareness of morbidity and mortality issues; our department has twice monthly review meetings to maintain excellent clinical standards, provide team support and feedback, and to fulfil both local and national reporting mechanisms.
• Experience of working or Observership in NHS hospital.
