Job OverviewAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Trials Assistant to work in our Research Department. We have a unique opportunity for a motivated person to come and join our research team on a fixed term contract to support across both the Bournemouth Research Hub and the research team in Division 3 at UHD. The post will involve working in a number of different areas within the Trust including Bournemouth Research Hub, Maternity and Child Health.

You'll be part of a dedicated, enthusiastic team delivering research across the trust for new and ongoing studies.
Our team participates in research within many different specialties and areas across the Trust. Enthusiasm, self-motivation, flexibility, and drive will be required to ensure the success of this post. You will be involved in all aspects of the research process from study start-up, recruitment and delivery, to close out of a study. You will need to have an excellent level of written and verbal communication skills plus good IT skills. You need to be comfortable working across diverse cohorts within busy clinical areas.

Previous research experience is not necessary as all training and development will be provided, although clinical skills of performing venepuncture and laboratory skills would be advantageous (but not essential). You need to be comfortable working in the busy clinical environment.
Along with the relevant and appropriate experience, you will need to demonstrate:- An interest in clinical research

- Excellent communication skills to provide guidance and support to patients and colleagues
- Good time management skills with the ability to meet a deadline.

Person specificationQualificationsEssential criteria- Good level of general education as evidenced by exam results or qualifications.
- Good Clinical Practice Course (or complete within one month of employment).
Desirable criteria- NVQ level 3 in Care or equivalent experience.
ExperienceEssential criteria- Experience of working with the public or people from a wide variety of backgrounds.
Technical Skills CompetenciesEssential criteria- Familiarity with medical terminology.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
- Basic keyboard skills, EPR, CAMIS etc. or willingness to be trained.
Desirable criteria- Experience with Excel spreadsheets (or willingness to learn).
KnowledgeDesirable criteria- Knowledge of clinical trials and other research methodology.
