Job description

The salary for this permanent Clinical Team Leader job is £40,000 - £42,607.50 per annum.

Main Duties:

  • Lead the nursing team in enhancing the quality of nursing care, providing support and advice to colleagues and relatives. Delegate tasks clearly and appropriately, ensuring safe practice and assessing competence.
  • Take responsibility for a specific group of service users, consulting and liaising with the multi-disciplinary team, service users, and their families/carers regarding their care. Assess the impact of policy implementation on care delivery.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Clinical Services/Ward Manager to assess potential service users in conjunction with Health and/or Social Services commissioners. Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate individualised care using evidence-based guidelines.
  • Produce accurate, contemporaneous, and complete records of service user consultations, consistent with legislation, policies, and procedures, whether handwritten or electronic.
  • Ensure all clinical staff, including self, receive formal documented supervision/clinical supervision in line with Brainkind professional and statutory requirements. Promote and demonstrate the highest clinical standards, assessing these through monitoring competencies.
  • Identify training needs and support staff in their development. Actively promote the workplace as a learning environment, encouraging learning from each other and from external good practice.
  • Provide an educational role to patients, carers, families, and colleagues in an environment that facilitates learning. Share knowledge and expertise with other staff through formal and informal teaching. Act as a mentor to students, assessing competence against set standards when requested and appropriately qualified.
  • Maintain an understanding of and adhere to all Brainkind policies and procedures.
  • To facilitate the safe and smooth running of the Service, maintain a safe working environment, ensure service user confidentiality, and occasionally take on reasonable additional tasks.

Requirements of the Clinical Team Leader:

  • Registered Nurse or degree-level qualification
  • Experience in specialist palliative or neurological care, depending on service requirements
  • Proven skills in leading, building, and influencing in a clinical setting
  • Knowledge of current legislation within the independent care sector
  • Demonstrable experience of practising in a self-directed and highly motivated manner
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to convey difficult messages to service users and their families
  • Negotiation and conflict management skills
  • Ability to effectively manage change and performance
  • Capability to provide teaching and mentorship in a clinical setting
