Job description

Clinical Teaching Fellow in Emergency Medicine - Medical Education

Applications are invited for Clinical Teaching Fellows (CTF) post in Emergency Medicine with a focus in Medical Education with an anticipated start date of 6th August 2025.

Posts are available for full time (40 hours per week). You will be required to work within the Aneurin Bevan health board but primarily on the Grange University Hospital site. Any out of hours work undertaken will be paid at a supplement as agreed by the relevant Clinical Board.

The primary educational role of the job is to organise and manage the education for medical students undertaking the Emergency Pre-hospital and Immediate care intercalated (EPIC) degree. In addition, there will be other educational opportunities afforded by the post for medical students and junior doctors at the education centre at the Grange University Hospital.

Support will be available to pursue a postgraduate medical education-based qualification if appropriate and the postholder will also benefit from having an honorary contract with Cardiff University with the title Honorary Lecturer.

Free parking is available across all Aneurin Bevan University Health Board Sites.

Main duties of the job

The post involves clinical experience in a busy and well supported new Emergency Department.

Applicants must have passed their FY2 (or equivalent) competencies and have a sound background knowledge of medicine. Within a supportive and professional team and environment, Clinical Fellows experience a very broad spectrum of clinical experience and a collaborative interface with wider associated specialties, aiming always to work together to provide an excellent patient experience.

The Clinical Fellows are afforded the same training opportunities as our training posts, with access to in house training - this includes protected monthly consultant led teaching days. Study leave is encouraged and the appointees will have the opportunity to perform an audit cycle and take part in case presentations.

Clinical Fellows (CF) in Emergency Medicine assume the responsibilities normally associated with junior grade (SHO level) appointment in Emergency Department (ED), and have access to a full range of IT facilities within the department.
