Job Opportunity: Clinical Teaching Assistant

Location: Kempston, Bedford

Position: Full-Time, Permanent

Salary: £460 - £500 a week

We are looking for a dedicated Clinical Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team in Kempston. If you have experience working with children in education and training settings, particularly those with additional health or emotional needs, we would love to hear from you!

As a Clinical Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with complex medical, emotional, and mental health challenges. Working alongside teachers, therapists, and medical professionals, you will help provide both academic and clinical support, ensuring students can access a safe, nurturing learning environment. Your role will be key in assisting with both their educational development and well-being.

This is a fantastic opportunity in Kempston for those in Sandy and surrounding areas to gain valuable experience supporting young people with social, emotional, and mental health needs, while expanding your skills in mental health support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with a variety of medical, emotional, and mental health needs, providing individualised care where necessary.
  • Assist with delivering therapeutic interventions, in collaboration with healthcare professionals and teaching staff.
  • Ensure students receive the appropriate medical and emotional support during school hours.
  • Help manage the day-to-day care needs of students, including administering prescribed medications (following appropriate guidelines).
  • Work with teachers to develop and implement personalised learning plans that cater to the specific needs of each student.
  • Support students in managing their health and emotional well-being, including developing coping strategies for various challenges.

About You:

  • Previous experience in a healthcare or educational support role, ideally in a clinical or SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) setting.
  • Knowledge and understanding of medical conditions, mental health challenges, and how they impact learning.
  • A caring, empathetic approach to supporting students, with a commitment to their well-being.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, healthcare providers, and families.
  • A passion to become a Clinical Teaching Assistant.
  • Relevant qualifications in healthcare, special educational needs, or similar fields would be advantageous (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, Nursing Assistant, Mental Health First Aid).
  • Ability to commute to Kempston.
