Essential criteria
  1. First level registration with NMC or equivalent
  2. Teaching and assessing qualification
  3. Degree or willingness to undertake further study
  4. Basic Life support
Desirable criteria
  1. ILS / ALS
Experience
Essential criteria
  1. 4 years post registration experience
  2. Evidence of ongoing CPD
Knowledge and Audit/Research
Essential criteria
  1. Awareness of current local priorities for HYMS, nursing and MDT learning
  2. Ability to collect and analyse data
  3. Ability to produce recommendations post audit and develop action plans
  4. Awareness of current local and international NHS agenda
Desirable criteria
  1. Previous experience of participation in audit projects
  2. Previous experience of involvement in research or an awareness of research methodology
Clinical Skills
Essential criteria
  1. Ability to perform extended role skills eg venepuncture, cannulation, ECG
  2. Ability to assess standards of clinical practice / competency
  3. Evidence of patient centred approach
  4. Ability to respond to clinical questions/queries from all levels of clinical staff
  5. Ability to provide supervised practice to all levels of staff and to provide effective feedback to improve clinical skills and patient care
  6. Ability to promote latest evidenced based practice

  1. Proven skills in presentation, facilitation, teaching plans, teaching aids and literature reviews
  2. Proven ability to identify training needs
  3. Proven ability to share and spread good practice

Leadership and Management

  1. Proven leadership qualities
