We would like to invite applications for a Band 7 Clinical Scientist position in Clinical Biochemistry at York & Scarborough Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, which is part of the SHYPS pathology network.
This full time post will be based at York Hospital but the post holder will be expected to work on other sites (not more frequently than one day a week) as required. The successful applicant will support the routine biochemistry service including participation in duty biochemist rota, reporting of protein electrophoresis and attendance at MDT meetings, and will be fully supported to progress through FRCPath exams.
We are a really friendly department with a great record in training and have an active research collaboration with gastroenterology. We are an accredited STP training centre, and are happy to consider applications from those in their final year of STP training, or equivalent.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be expected to provide clinical and scientific advice to other health professionals on the selection, performance, and interpretation of clinical biochemical investigations. They will have particular responsibilities for investigations referred to external laboratories and the investigations performed within a specified area of the laboratory, and will participate in research and development and clinical audit.

Person SpecificationQualificationsEssential- Registered with the HCPC as a Clinical Scientist (candidates who are within 12 months of obtaining registration may also be considered)
- Completion of Scientist Training Programme or equivalent training (candidates who are within 12 months of completion may also be considered)
- MSc and/or PhD in Biochemistry/Clinical Biochemistry
ExperienceEssential- Actively working towards FRCPath in Clinical Biochemistry
