Applications are invited for a band 7 Clinical Scientist to join our team within Blood Sciences at Harrogate & District NHS Foundation Trust (HDFT), which is part of The Integrated Pathology Solutions Network. The full time post will be based at Harrogate Hospital, but the post holder may be expected to work on other sites.
The Blood Sciences Department provides comprehensive biochemistry, haematology, immunology, and blood transfusion services to the health communities of Harrogate and District with an annual workload of 2.8 million tests. Core services are provided by a fully automated laboratory with sub-sections for specialist biochemistry, blood transfusion, and immunology. The Specialist Laboratory in Harrogate provides Clinical Biochemistry services for a population of 1 million (Harrogate and Districts, Airedale and Bradford Hospitals and communities).

We are looking for an enthusiastic registered Clinical Scientist to join our existing team of two Consultants Clinical Biochemist and over 20 BMS plus other support staff.
The Department is UKAS accredited in conformity with ISO 15189. This post offers an excellent opportunity to play a leading role in the development of the biochemistry services, our ambitious quality agenda, and clinical liaison with the community. You will undertake duties which include all aspects of the department's service provision, participation on the duty biochemist rota, and involvement in clinical audit and R&D. The post holder will be expected to contribute to the teaching and education program within the department and the community and support the training of BMS staff. The post holder will be supported academically to progress through FRCPath exams, and funding will be provided for attendance at national/international conferences.
