Job summaryThe Clinical Safety Officer will provide expert clinical advice / specialist support to the health board, on issues relating to clinical risk management / patient safety assessment associated with the boards Digital, Data and Technology services for procurement, design & development, implementation of third-party systems and operational life cycle.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the jobThe individual will support the development, integration and embedding of the health board's clinical assurance process which focuses on the patient safety assessment of health board's Digital, data and technology services at the design, development and final testing phases before they are handed over to the service for operational use. The post holder will be pro-active in deploying and motivating health board and external clinical, technical and project staff to commit time and effort to the risk management/risk assessment process so that health board's products can be signed off as fit for use in real operational and clinical environments.
The individual will also support the development, integration and embedding of the health board clinical assurance process which focuses on the patient safety assessment of health board's digital, data and technology services in the operational phase of the life cycle.

Person SpecificationQualificationsEssential- Registered Clinician
- Masters Degree or equivalent demonstrable knowledge and experience
- Leadership or Management qualification
DesirableExperienceEssential- Substantial NHS experience working at a senior level in a risk management related role
- Experience in multi-agency liaison and collaborative & partnership working.
- Human Resource issues such as Recruitment & Retention, Appraisal, Performance Management, Sickness absence, Annual leave etc.
Desirable- Experience of undertaking complex investigations including root cause analysis
- Experience in working in healthcare information technology field
- Experience in contributing to policy, planning & service development
Skills and AttributesEssential- Highly Developed specialist knowledge of the National Clinical Risk agenda underpinned by theory and experience.
- Proven track record of managing change
- Up to date Clinical ability to act as a Leader, efficiently manage and motivate staff
- Knowledge of standards of record keeping & ability to audit this.
- Excellent Communication and IT Skills
- Established communication & interpersonal skills in communicating highly complex, sensitive or contentious information when there are significant barriers to acceptance or understanding.
