Job summaryApplications are invited for a Clinical Research Fellow within R&D Theme 5 (Barnet and Chase Farm), Rheumatology at Barnet Hospital, Chase Farm Hospital & Edgware Community Hospital.
Main duties of the jobThe appointment of a clinical research fellow in Rheumatology and in Phase II to IV rheumatology trials will involve responsibilities for patient care and recruitment into clinical trials. The appointee will gain a range of generic and transferable skills including trial design and management and will be expected to publish research manuscripts and present at national and international meetings. The post is ideally suited for trainees wishing to strengthen their CV in pursuit of specialist training or ACF positions within Rheumatology, or senior trainees looking for entry points into postgraduate research. The post will run for a 12-month period.

Person SpecificationValuesEssential- Demonstrable ability to meet the Trust Values
Education & professional QualificationsEssentialDesirable- Membership of relevant Royal College or overseas equivalent
- Good Clinical Practice Training Certificate
ExperienceDesirable- Relevant experience in medical specialities including rheumatology
- Work in a clinical trials environment
- Experience of teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level
- Experience in data collection, management, analysis and presentation
- Involvement in the clinical audit process and an understanding of the aims thereof
Skills and aptitudesEssential- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to take on tasks and responsibilities in a multi-professional team and to work effectively and sensitively within it
Desirable- Proven ability in relevant subject areas
- Ability to provide clinical supervision
