This post represents an excellent opportunity for a physician wishing to gain further experience in cancer clinical trials and, in particular Phase I and Experimental Cancer Medicine clinical trials.
The post is ideally suited to a physician who has either completed or is undertaking their specialist training in medical oncology and has already been involved in the development and delivery of clinical or translational research, in collaboration with clinical academics and/or industry collaborators.
A medical qualification and General Medical Council registration or ability to obtain registration before job commencement is required. In addition, the successful applicant will need to be able to hold an Honorary Clinical Contract with Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Trust.
The successful individual will have a prominent role in the recruitment and care of patients with cancer, participating in clinical trials. Participation in research active outpatient clinics will also be expected. A knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) is expected and other, trial specific training will be provided. There will also be the opportunity to attend other trial design related training opportunities and also to present clinical data at national and international meetings.
The post will be based in the Department of Oncology, under the direction of Dr Simon Pacey, Speciality Research Lead for Early Phase Trials (Cambridge Cancer Trials Centre (CCTC)) and based, with honorary clinical status, at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Trust, Cancer Directorate and the Cambridge Clinical Research Centre.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 12 months in the first instance.
This appointment requires an Honorary Clinical Contract.
