Job summary
Applications are invited for the post of Clinical Research Fellow (ST3+level/MN37) in Interventional Cardiac Electrophysiology at the Leeds General Infirmary. This is a 12 Month post.
This is a research post in cardiac electrophysiology. It is based in the Department of Cardiology at the Leeds General Infirmary. This is one of the largest invasive cardiology units in the country. The project could lead to the award of an MD or MSc degree, and extends work that the unit has undertaken on virtual wards. It is a CT1/2 level post suitable for junior cardiology trainees. The post is funded partly through a Research Grant from Medtronic and will include a responsibility to oversee appropriate selected research projects.
It is expected that as a minimum candidates have presented an abstract at a meeting.
No formal on-call commitment is involved, but there will be a nominal service commitment as well as responsibility for overseeing some of the portfolio studies.

Job Plan
This is a supernumerary clinical post with a major research component. It is expected that the working sessions will be based on the following plan:
No routine on-call responsibility is included to maximise available research time. Opportunities to contribute to the SHO on-call rota will be available on a locum basis.
Salary
The post will be remunerated at the appropriate level of Cardiology ST training (CT1/2) depending on previous experience.

The post will be based at the Yorkshire Heart Centre. This is the largest tertiary cardiology unit in the UK. It serves a tertiary population of approximately 2.5 million across the West Yorkshire region. From a team of 23 full or part-time Consultant Cardiologists, five Electrophysiologists offer a full invasive and non-invasive cardiac electrophysiology service including ablation of supraventricular arrhythmias, atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia, complex cardiac rhythm management device insertion and pacemaker and ICD lead extraction. CARTO and NavX 3-D mapping systems, cryoablation and circular ablation technologies are all available. Currently approximately 1000 catheter ablation procedures and 120 ICD procedures are performed annually.
