Clinical Psychologist (Band 8a) – Weight Management
Location: Croydon Health Services
Duration: 3 months with potential extension
Start Date: ASAP
Hours: Full-time (Fridays are essential)
Rate: £35 Umbrella equivalent

We are seeking a Band 8a Clinical Psychologist to join our Tier 3 Weight Management Service at Croydon Health Services. You will be providing highly specialist psychological support for individuals with obesity and complex medical comorbidities, supporting sustainable weight loss and healthy lifestyle changes.

Key Responsibilities

1. Provide expert psychological support to residents of the borough of Croydon with severe obesity and medical comorbidities.
2. Deliver group and one-to-one psychological interventions, both in-person and remotely (via MS Teams or other virtual platforms).
3. Work within a multidisciplinary team to support patients in the Tier 3 Weight Management Program.
4. Develop treatment plans based on psychological assessments and offer tailored interventions.
5. Contribute to the development of policies and treatment pathways for lifestyle changes in patients struggling with obesity.
6. Offer supervision and training to junior clinical psychologists and multidisciplinary team members.
7. Collaborate with other agencies to ensure equitable service delivery across Croydon, especially for harder-to-reach populations.

Key Requirements

1. Availability: Must be available to work on Fridays.
2. Experience working with seriously obese patients and/or within a Tier 3 weight management service.
3. Experience delivering group therapy sessions and one-on-one psychological interventions.
4. Knowledge of evidence-based psychological interventions and ability to adapt them based on patient needs.
5. Ability to work autonomously and contribute to a multidisciplinary team.
6. Familiarity with NICE guidelines and evidence-based practices in obesity treatment and management.
