This is a Recruitment Pool for Permanent Full Time and Part Time, Fixed Term Full Time and Part Time appointments, with the possibility of extension(s) and/or permanency. Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments may be made when similar vacancies occur until 30 June 2025.

Position Profile:

As a Clinical Psychologist Registrar (HSO Grade 1), you will be provided with weekly clinical supervision, professional support, and access to Registrar Development, Support and Supervision group within the Department to assist you to achieve your competencies and progress to full registration as a psychologist with area of practice endorsement as a Clinical Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia.

As a Clinical Psychologist (HSO Grade 2), you will provide clinical supervision to Clinical Psychology Registrars and Trainees, as well as having access to your own clinical supervision within the Department.

Reporting to the Head of Clinical Psychology and Neuropsychology and the Senior Clinical Psychology Coordinator, you will deliver direct psychological services including comprehensive assessments, formulation, and interventions for patients with complex psychological and mental health disorders.

The ideal candidate will have strong communication and collaboration skills, working within multidisciplinary teams to provide holistic care alongside medical, nursing, and allied health professionals. You will plan, implement, and evaluate psychological care, ensuring all practices align with AHPRA standards, WA Health Code of Conduct, and departmental values and guidelines.

We are a dedicated and dynamic team of Clinical Psychologists and Neuropsychologists at Fiona Stanley Fremantle Hospitals Group (FSFHG), providing inpatient and outpatient specialised psychological services. Working within a multidisciplinary team, we offer comprehensive assessments, formulations and interventions for children, adults, and older adults with complex medical, chronic health, cognitive, rehabilitation and mental health needs.

Our goal is to enhance patient outcomes through evidence-informed, holistic care, supporting engagement with treatment and rehabilitation. We also provide education and consultation to hospital teams. We are committed to prioritising ongoing professional development, clinical supervision, and research to ensure continuous improvement in our services.

Area Profile:

The South Metropolitan Health Service (SMHS) oversees several key health facilities. The Fiona Stanley Hospital Cockburn Mental Health facility is a modern 75-bed voluntary inpatient centre, specializing in women's mental health, eating disorders, and alcohol and drug detoxification. It also features a wellness and recovery centre offering outpatient therapies and specialist consultations. Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH) is a 783-bed tertiary hospital providing diverse services, including state rehabilitation, cancer care, mental health, maternity, and neonatal services, alongside specialized treatments like heart and lung transplants. Fremantle Hospital is a 300-bed facility focused on aged care, mental health, rehabilitation, and planned surgeries and medical services.

  • Evidence of a Master's or Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology and eligibility for full registration and endorsement in Clinical Psychology or Clinical Psychology Registrar status with the Psychology Board of Australia is a requirement for this position.

Australian citizenship or permanent residency is an essential requirement for applicants to be considered for permanent positions in the Western Australian public sector. To be eligible for a fixed term appointment you must have documentary evidence of your entitlement to live and work in Australia for the period of the contract.
