We are seeking a confident Clinical Psychologist to join our established Paediatric Psychology team supporting children with a range of physical health conditions (including Chronic Pain, Cystic Fibrosis, Childhood Cancers, Diabetes, Epilepsy and Perplexing Functional presentations). We work within and alongside multidisciplinary teams with Paediatricians, Specialist Nurses, Physiotherapists and Dieticians through our clinics and inpatient facilities at St Richards Hospital in Chichester and Worthing Hospital to provide a responsive therapeutic service for young people and their families. We became adept in the use of virtual video consultations during the pandemic period and have retained this valuable adjunct to our more traditional ways of working.
The post holder will become an integral member of our established Multidisciplinary Paediatric Diabetes Team and 0.4wte sessions will be dedicated to supporting young people with diabetes. They will be responsible for a clinical caseload of children with diabetes and a range of other long term health conditions.
Please note if you are newly/recently qualified you will start as a band 7 progressing to band 8a.
We are passionate about providing a high quality holistic service and are looking forward to welcoming a psychologist with drive and enthusiasm onto the team. Support and supervision for this post will be offered by our experienced psychologists. In addition to experienced Paediatric Psychologists, we welcome enquiries from recently qualified psychologists interested in preceptorship and CAMHS Psychologists interested in moving into the specialty.
To provide a clinical psychology service to children, young people and their families / carers who are users of the Paediatric Department in the western part of University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust (UHSussex); providing highly specialist psychological assessments and interventions as part of the specialist Paediatric Psychology team. The post holder will become an integral member of our established Multidisciplinary Paediatric Diabetes Team and 0.4wte sessions will be dedicated to supporting young people with diabetes. They will be responsible for a clinical caseload of children with diabetes and a range of other long term health conditions in both St Richards Hospital (SRH) in Chichester and Worthing Hospital (WH), travelling between sites in accordance with the needs of the service. The post holder will work autonomously within professional guidelines and in line with best, evidence-based practice and the agreed care pathways, policies and procedures of the Paediatric Psychology Team.
The post holder will support psychological practice within the Paediatric Department and the wider professional network involved with the service users, by providing clinical supervision, consultation, mentorship, teaching and advice on matters related to the psychological development and functioning of children and young people with diabetes and other chronic health conditions.
The post holder will utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research as required by the Specialist Paediatric Psychology Team.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
