Job description

The role of a Clinical Psychologist at Elysium Healthcare involves leading the psychology department and working alongside a multidisciplinary team to provide patient-centered care and support the recovery of individuals with mental health conditions. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting assessments, developing and implementing person-centered interventions, and evaluating the care and treatment of service users. This is a temporary position covering two Southwest sites - Pinhoe View in Exeter and The Copse in Weston-Super-Mare.

Main duties of the job

As a Clinical Psychologist at Elysium Healthcare, you will be responsible for participating in the assessment of referrals, providing initial assessments for service users, and undertaking high-quality direct and indirect specialist psychological interventions. You will work therapeutically with service users with complex presentations, utilizing a range of structured psychometric and semi-structured clinical methods to formulate and implement plans of specialist psychological treatment or management based on a multifactorial psychological understanding and current evidence-based best practices. You will be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of your clinical work and care, maintaining high standards in accordance with the HCPC Code of Conduct, professional guidelines, and company policies and procedures.

Are you an experienced and motivated Psychologist looking for an opportunity to grow and develop? If so, join Elysium Healthcare as a Psychologist, covering two Southwest sites.

As a Psychologist you will be:

  • Participating in the assessment of referrals, and providing initial assessment service users referred to the service.
  • Undertaking high-quality direct (assessment & therapeutic) and indirect (consultative, advisory, and evaluative) specialist psychological interventions and making autonomous clinical decisions.
  • Working therapeutically with service users with complex presentations, undertaking assessments using a broad range of structured psychometric and semi-structured clinical methods.
  • Formulating and implementing plans of specialist psychological treatment or management of patients’ mental health needs based on a multi-factorial psychological understanding and current evidence-based best practices.
  • Being professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of clinical work and care.
  • Maintaining high standards of care in all areas of practice and in accordance with the HCPC Code of Conduct, professional guidelines, and company policies and procedures.

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • Have BPS recognized psychology degrees
  • Be HCPC registered
  • Have Chartered Psychologist status and appropriate post-graduate qualifications
  • Be an approved supervisor within the guidelines of the BPS and relevant division
  • Have understanding of evidence-based psychological practice
  • Have experience of applying psychological knowledge to a clinical setting
  • Be experienced working with clients with cognitive deficits
  • Have previous experience of conducting research and project work

Where you will be working

Location: The Copse, Beechmount Close, Oldmixon, Weston-Super-Mare, Somerset, BS24 9EX

The Copse is a level 2 mental health rehab facility where mental health services are provided across four, six-bedded wards for men. The service is supported by a full multidisciplinary team and the focus is on a pathway of care that supports individuals back to the community.

Location: Pinhoe View, College Way, EXETER, EX1 3P

Pinhoe View is a purpose-built facility where a range of mental health services are provided for adults with acute mental health conditions across two wards. The 24-hour acute inpatient service is supported by a full multidisciplinary team, which specializes in the assessment, treatment, and stabilization of people suffering from a significant mental health episode and in crisis.

Qualifications

  • To be successful in this role, you must have BPS-recognized psychology degrees, be HCPC registered, and have Chartered Psychologist status with appropriate post-graduate qualifications. You should also be an approved supervisor within the guidelines of the BPS and relevant division, demonstrate an understanding of evidence-based psychological practice, and have experience of applying psychological knowledge in a clinical setting, particularly with clients with cognitive deficits. Previous experience in conducting research and project work is also preferred.
